The Quebec podcast Sexe Oral is facing intense criticism following the release of an episode featuring an anonymous individual identifying as a pedophile. Hosted by Lysandre Nadeau and Joanie Grenier, the episode aimed to address a highly stigmatized and rarely discussed reality — but its approach has sparked widespread public backlash.
A controversial editorial decision
Since its release on Friday, the episode has generated strong reactions online, with many questioning the decision to offer a platform to such testimony, even though the interview was conducted in the presence of a sexologist.
Critics argue that the episode risks normalizing pedophilia and fails to sufficiently reframe or challenge certain statements made by the guest, particularly his assertion that he did not require professional help.

The hosts respond to criticism
Contacted by Agence QMI, co-host Joanie Grenier acknowledged that the episode may not have featured the ideal testimony.
“If I had multiple options, I would have chosen someone else,” she explained. “But there are no volunteers. No one wants to speak publicly. This was the first person willing to do so.”
Grenier also revealed that the interview deeply affected her, describing sleepless nights following the recording, which took place two months prior to its release.

Increased demand for support services
Interestingly, the episode appears to have had an immediate impact on support organizations.
Ça Suffit, a Quebec-based helpline offering confidential support to individuals experiencing sexual attraction toward minors, reported an increase in calls and website visits in the days following the episode’s release.
According to criminologist Pauline Delfini, coordinator at Ça Suffit, the organization observed higher engagement within 72 hours of the episode’s publication — a trend that could signal increased awareness of available resources.
