Gurky wins influencer of the year at Quebec’s first gala influence création

The creator economy took a symbolic step forward in Quebec as Gurky was named Influencer of the Year at the inaugural Gala Influence Création. Held at TOHU in Montreal, the event marked the first major awards ceremony dedicated entirely to content creators in the province.

A first-of-its-kind ceremony for creators

Inspired by similar initiatives in the United States and France, the Gala Influence Création brought together more than 60 nominated creators across multiple categories. Winners were selected through a public vote, highlighting the growing role audiences play in shaping digital influence today.

The evening officially positioned influencers alongside established cultural industries such as music, comedy and cinema, acknowledging their impact on contemporary media.

Gurky, Claudie Mercier and Lysandre Nadeau among the night’s highlights

Known for his unexpected culinary experiments and viral video concepts, Gurky took home the top honor of Content Creator of the Year.

Claudie Mercier, a former Occupation Double contestant, stood out by winning both TikToker of the Year and Entertainment Creator of the Year, praised for her authenticity and her podcast Perceptions, which gives voice to people living with atypical conditions.

Lysandre Nadeau, who appeared on stage while close to giving birth, won Instagram Creator of the Year and Podcast of the Year alongside co-host Joanie Grenier for Sexe Oral.

Redefining the public image of influencers

According to Anthony Tran, co-founder of the event, the gala was also created in response to recent controversies that have affected the public perception of influencers.

“It felt unfair that the entire profession was being judged based on a few incidents,” he explained. “There is an incredible amount of talent in Quebec that deserves to be recognized.”

By celebrating creators with positive cultural and social impact, the Gala Influence Création aims to reposition influence as a legitimate and evolving profession.
